Sorry, the team should cap friendly this year and next year. This doesn't do it.

That Detroit trade is never going to happen and its not worth taking on the cap. Maybe Brown for Ritchie straight up? And put in an extra pick for the Rangers to retain half on McQuaid. As for Petro, you are not getting him for that package, we would have to give up a roster ready player and two picks, probably a 2018/19 first and a 19/20 2nd. Probably Kappi + prospect (Bracco/Sandin?) and then the 1st + 2nd.

Honestly dont get how Kapanens value is that of a high end winger. I know he is good but he is playing in the best offense in the league and benefiting from being the guy who isn't keyed in on against.

Pietrangelo has been a top 20 dman in this league for years now and is a proven top pairing player, that package won't get him and Leafs fans need to calm down on the value of their players

I know it is above the cap but keep in mind this site doesn't do cap mid season. With that in mind, Pietrangelo and others have already had most of their cap paid out by this time of the season or trade deadline. That is why I left it over.

That would be a complete one sided trade and not fair to Leaf fans wink

If they have the room then why not take on Glendening??? If you are cap strapped the following year then you can always flip him for the same thing. I did edit the team and deleted him anyway smile

Not saying Anaheim woul be giving up on Ritchie but perhaps a pick with a player can do it as the Ducks are good at drafting players in later rounds.

I edited Pietro by adding Zaitsev. Kap and a first I believe would be a good package with Kaps potential and having a first for a possible rebuilding team is suffuicient and Z isn't half bad...not great...but not bad either.

I just dont think Toronto has need for him, the bottom six and very strong and they have pieces in the Marlies that could come up.

I like Brown for Ritchie, it makes the Ducks faster, gives them a solid PK guy and Toronto adds to their left with some size and gritt.

As for Petro, he is worth too much, that package wont do it. You will need to overpay for him, sadly.

If the Leafs want a Cup winning team, they should add Gilmour, Clark, Andreychuck. Anderson, Osbourne, Zezel, Berg, Ellett, Mironov, McCoun, Rouse, Gill and Potvin.

Glendening is more for depth in the playoffs in case of injury but isn't a need. I agree with the overpay with Pietr but I don't think I'm far off. I would rather have Brown but I get the fact of trade from a position of depth for a need.

Wouldn't it great to have Zezel as the 3rd/4th centre and as 2nd/3rd pairing of Rouse and Lefevyre. In the early to mid nineties, the Leafs defence, despite not having any all stars might have the best group in the NHL.

To explain how that Leafs D-Corps of the 'early 90s was so good (despite any true 1st Pair talent), two words, Pats Burns. Burns>any Leaf coach used since, including Babs. The fact the Leafs turned very good offensive guys like Zezel and Osbourne, both who had 70 point season in the past, into the best shut down line in the NHL speaks volumes about how great Burns was.

Another coach that didn't did much credit was defencemen coach Mike Kitchen. The Leafs were never better in the past then when Kitchen was coach. After a relatively short stint as head coach with St Louis, Kitchen was Dman coach for the Hawks during their recent glory years.
