With Seattle cap rise reportedly going to be close to the 90 mil mark, lets just say 88 for now. Add Greene's expired contract cap, bam

Edit: Getting an extra 10 mil

That would be ideal.

You could give Hall around 9~ but maybe higher, Hischer gets 6ish, then you have around 3 mil to sign other RFA's. I think it works out.

I like this. I think Duchene should be your #1 target, with Stone being a bonus.

The biggest concern that I would have is between the pipes. I doubt Miller leaves California, mainly since his wife works out there, and Schneider is a huge question mark. Pray that he gets 100% healthy and plays somewhere close to the level that he used to. Admittedly, I don't watch many Devils games, but Kinkaid's numbers don't look great. I'm assuming he's not the answer?

I only put Miller there for show. You could resign Kinkaid but I'm not too fond of him. Who would you suggest?

Hard to say. IMO you guys should send Schneider down to the AHL (Which would mean waiving him, but I don't see why anybody would grab him with that contract), to try to get him some game action. No point in playing him in the NHL when he seems so over-matched. If he can find his game, then bring him back.

Obviously signing Bob in the offseason would cost wayyy too much and there's not much point having 2 goalies taking up $16+ mil towards the cap. Maybe a Lehner/Varlamov (bit of a stretch)/Howard/Mrazek type guy that yes, you'll have to spend a bit on, but that you shouldn't have to sign for more than 2-3 years, but can be a decent NHL-er? You guys have a lot of young pieces, cap space, and you *SHOULD* end up with a really strong 1st round pick this season.

Edit: Re: Schneider-Or, let him get 100% healthy. Maybe he was rushed back?

I'm not a devil's fan so it's ok. Just looking to turn this team into a playoff team. The start we can make is from the goalie. Schneider could be moved. If he is, Bob is the signing. If Schneider gets sent down, Mrazek or Howard would be stellar options.

Pre-Hall Help: (assuming we don't make the POs)
Moving Kinkaid for something
Moving Lovejoy for practice gear
If we are not competing after March we need to move what we can, no more Lou Lams and let players go!

You are missing Ty Smith from this roster
Where's Quenville?

Cory needs a few gimme games, but this team wont let him get them! 7 games before the new year, only two I see are OTT and Van!

First I like what you have done so a lot of it would be tweaking what you have done. At first I thought you $ were way outta wack but after ready your explanation its more possible. I would pass myself on Gardiner, i think hes going to be expensive and last year he had some bad defensive plays

Goaltending-
Kinkaid is a really good backup and can hold the top spot for a while but he's not a guy you can ride through the POs, as last year showed.
He could probably start on some teams, if he is moved I like to see it to Long Island for Eberle. Everyone wins.
Schneider needs his confidence back, they play like crap in front of him. He did not fall off that quick. His surgery is a half year time frame to be ready, and hes been thrown to the wolves somewhat. He MUST play better too so its not just everyone else. I don't see a team taking him with the term and dollars left. Blackwood just got called up (Schneider on IR) They have a couple of easy games that he can get into so lets see if we have something. Schneider/Blackwood tandem next year

Forwards-
Still need more scoring. Duchene Stone are great adds if we can get them. Hallsy has to take them both out and show them around like they did to Butcher to get them onboard. I'd like to see a add like Burakosky guys who have fell out of favor but still have it. He's Swiss so that would help Nico.

Defense-
I will be in the minority here but I would consider moving Vatanen. My scenario has him going to Edm (yeah I know, never happening) for Nurse. Reason being is we have a lot of smallish offensive minded D men (Butcher, Smith on his way) Severson is bigger but O minded. Nurse is big and nasty, a great skater, currently eating up 22-24 min per night AND getting on the scoresheet too. Edm needed Right D before Klef and Russell (both L) got hurt this weekend. So that idea is shot. I like Mueller but could use a better version of him. Yako too is ok. next year for me it would be Nurse/Butcher/Smith on the left and Severson/Santini/trade for Honka or similar on the right. That does not take into account 2 guys who I think will get looks on D, Josh Jacobs RHD (he's about done, time to show your work) and Colby Sissons, LHD who was lighting it up on the Bronco team he was on (13-58-71) before Binghamton. I am not sure they could do it but if they could move Andy Greene with a little retention, they should. Then bring him back as the D coach and lose Coach Nas

I also forgot Jack sarcasm Hughes and Quenville (even after I told you he was missing squinty smile )
Kapanen from Tor would be nice too! Trying to find those guys who may become Panarin/Tarasenkos before they are there!

Greene or Corys contract has to be bought out. I prefer Greene

I would too. I wouldn't suggest a buyout though, they would have the right amount of cap to keep his contract and let it expire in time for the Hall and Hischier extension
