Simmonds is a pending UFA as well. Isles pass on it anyway.

I know he is. But there's no way Philly takes that. Isles take that in a heart beat. Lehner and Nelson aren't coming back. At least this would allow them a few more months to negotiate with Simmonds or even flip him for a bigger, better valued package

    A) they did flip him in this scenario, to Toronto.

    B) isles don’t touch this. They can get a similar return for Nelson alone and will try to extend Lehner providing has off ice issues have been minimal.

I totally get why Simmonds' name comes up a lot in rumors and speculation associated with the Leafs. However, if I was the Leafs GM, I would only make a deal with the Flyers if the deal included Scott Laughton. It's hard to get a sense of Laughton's value because I think he's underutilized in Philly, but he brings an edge, can win face-offs and can kill penalties. Oh, and he's an RFA after the season, so there is some team control there too. He'd be a big upgrade over Frederick Gauthier, and defensively, over Par Lindholm and Tyler Ennis, as well. If the Leafs were trading Brown (which I doubt happens during season, especially if Babcock gets any say here), Timashov and a 2nd, I would expect a return of Simmonds and Laughton, even if the Leafs needed to throw in, say, one of their 4th round picks this draft.

Thanks for the responses guys, again this was just an add onto Sammys thought. I wasn't really saying I liked the value for Philly/Isles, but if that trade did happen, it would make sense for NYI to flip Simmonds and the Toronto/Isles relationship is there.

Lol, you likrly would not get Simmonds alone for that return. A late 2nd, a 3rd liner, and a below average prospect. Please. I would not trade either Simmonds or Laughton by themselves for that return.

Dont take Browns usage as a sign of his ceiling. This is a guy that has already scored 20 goals in the show. He could easily be a second liner, and he is a great PK guy.

I’m not basing it on usage.

Brown is literally what Simmonds is just younger and less developed.

Then keep him. His trade value is a late 2nd round pick.

Your Flyers are where they are for a reason. Mismanaged completely. Now, Chuck Fletcher, in my opinion, is a much better GM than Ron Hextall ever was. Nevertheless, you will never get "fair value for Simmonds" because he will likely get dealt as purely a rental, as opposed to a deal that sees an extension included as part of said deal. For a 2-3 month rental, the original deal proposed is more than fair.

Lol, sorry I let reality ruin your fantasy world.

Simmonds value is likely 2 2nds.

But at the deadline teams overpay. Always have always will. Face facts.

That is not at all what it is happening. Everyone on this thread is trying to have a productive hypothetical conversation. And you are choosing to act how you always do. Which by the way, gets really REALLY old.

By the way, with your very strong hockey mind, what do you do in hockey? You must be an executive? Head office? Scout? Something?

Productive conversation involves differing opinions, not just yes men that well tell you “why yes the other team will take 75 cents on the dollar because they really are not interested in doing what’s best for them and maximizing their return”

Most offers on here are lopsided in favor of the posters favorite team. Homerism runs rampant here.

First and foremost, no one on this thread agreed.

Secondly the original trade you cant get over is not one I suggested, the trade I suggested is the Toronto trade.

Get your facts straight man. Again, you are getting really old. Homerism is running rampant? Douchebaggery is as well. So good for you!
