It seems to be the classic trade of signing for a known "star" commodity, for young NHLers and prospects. Just guessing how the Bruins do things, they would rather keep Debrusk and Carlo and let them develop in good NHLers. When they are at their best, they seem to solid guys who can be the second line and second pairing very well. Bruins biggest problem this year has been injuries and especially Bergerons.

I agree that there is remotely no chance of the Bruins making this trade.

The real issue with the Bruins right now is they lack scoring beyond their top line and have a lot of young players trying to find their way on the second and third lines. This is mainly due to the fact that they are lacking another "star" forward. Before the injuries that came their way, they were still having a tough time relying on other forwards beyond Pastrnak, Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci.

Related to this issue is the fact they are never going to win a cup with the team and assets they have now unless a young forward or two take a giant step forward in their progression in the next few years or they acquire a star forward and a 3rd line center. The division they are coming out of has them losing in the first round, if not the second. There is no way this team can compete with Toronto or Tampa and expect to win both series, let alone one of those series.

As we have seen in the past, so many teams have failed to get over the hump of being a good team that can make the playoffs but lose in the first couple of rounds. We have seen it with teams like Minnesota, Anaheim, even the Rangers before this year. It's tough in today's NHL to make a deep playoff run without players who can be relied upon night in and night out.

agree. I doubt the Bruins would make this trade. Doesn't make sense on the Bruins end. Yes Tarasenko can replace Debrusk's scoring, but Carlo is gonna need to be the shutdown D when Chara retires. That would be a gaping hole if we have no Carlo or Chara. We have enough LD and small/mobile D. We need to keep Carlo. I'd rather have 20-25 goals with Debrusk's rookie contract right now than 30-35 goals with Tarasenko's $7.5 mil. Tarasenko is an incredible talent but we need to add him to our lineup to have a shot at the cup, not deplete our lineup.

I agree with you. This post was simply to show what it would take to bring in Tarasenko and that the Bruins would have to part with key assets. I don't believe the Bruins would make this trade either but can't ignore the fact that the Bruins are still one or two key players away from making a feasible cup run.

if that's the kind of package it would take, without an awful contract going the other way (for the bruins, it would of course be backes), then Tarasenko will be in St. Louis for quite some time.
