The funny part about this comment is that you say no....but this deal is heavily in favor of Toronto when you consider it provides everything they need to become legit contenders.

Even Marc Bergevin isnt dumb enough to make that trade. Petry is a top 4, 20 min a night, 40+ point defenceman, and your packaging him with a second pick to get a late pick dman (who is good, but still only a B level prospect), a 37 year old LW MTL has no room for, an injured cap dump and a pick that's probably only moving MTL from 41-28 in the draft.

That's an easy, easy no from MTL. Maybe if it was Sandin and the first alone, you could talk, but that's still without retaining any money.

It’s a good trade for both teams. Moving down a few spots in the draft is good. Also I didn’t write this but you also have to think about who you can protect during the expansion. With this trade sandin would be protected for free plus 3 more d. Petry is good but he doesn’t have a great plus minus and his stats are inflated because Webber was out. This is a trade to put both teams in a good position for the future. Webber sandin brooks and mete would be a solid d core.

Doesn’t really matter if he would or he wouldn’t. Toronto better how he does

Calgary also has no need for a depth defenseman of that contract and would not take on the cap hit
