Description

I think Coyle would fit in really well with Krejci and DeBrusk. Adds to the overall depth of the team for a playoff run. Very diverse player that can play in any situation. I'd bump the 3rd round pick up to a 2nd if I had to.
I would consider trading either Heinen/Donato's rights after the playoffs. I believe Bjork is a legit NHLer and could replace either one of them.

McAvoy- 6.5M x 6

Side Notes:
Moore was an absolute steal in the off-season, very cap friendly contract. Very impressed with his mobility and reliability.
DeBrusk has to one of the most underrated players in the league. His work ethic is exceptional and can be relied upon in any situation. I would gladly make room on the roster for a 5.5M-6M extension for him.
We won't be able to afford all of Bjork/Heinen/Donato extensions especially with the Backes cap hit.

I just don't see the appeal of Coyle.

I just think his versatility and all round game would be lethal in a playoff run. I think they need to add a solid RW for DeBrusk and Krejci. Do you have any other guys in mind?

Donato will be a bridge deal just with the small sample size we've seen of him. He has obvious offensive skill with a goal scoring touch, 20-30 goalscorer in a top 6 role IMO. He should get somewhere in between 2-3M for a couple years. Hasn't proven himself enough for anything long term. I think with his Boston connection, he will stay over Heinen.

Carlo may be a bit much, maybe something between 3-4M. Their are a lot of worse defenceman in the league making 4M+ (Russell, Scandella, Maatta, Alzner, Smith etc) which he may use to leverage the negotiations. I think as a 22 year old 6'5 Dman, he could see a similar contact as Gudbranson in Vancouver.

I don’t think Heinen gets 3M. He’s not worth it. I would probably try and sign Carlo at 5M x 8 if possible. If possible I would try to get Donato 3M x 5 as well. It’ll be a steal when he becomes a consistent goal scorer. And unless you can get Chara for 2M or under I would part ways. Great guy, be a great 3rd pairing D at 2M.
