Johansen is our most highly touted d-prospect and not someone we should be trading for a rental 3rd liner, not even taking into consideration trading him AND Burakovsky. Johansen alone for Ferland is a big overpayment imo. We have an abundance of bottom 6 forwards as it is anyways, we don't really have much of a need for a rental forward.

Agreed. Though I'd add I think Alexeyev is our best D prospect now. And I love Johansen, but Aexeyev was a steal of a pick that should have gone in the 10-15 pick range. He looks like to be a bigger version of Orlov, which is scary.

Ya Alexeyev his having a great year in the WHL, but it's still very early to tell, although what I saw from him at development camp he looked really good. The thing I like so much about Johansen is that he's such a great skater and a great puck mover, it's just too bad that he got injured AGAIN, he was having a good start in the AHL.

I know! Injuries in the AHL, IMO, are the worst. It's so freakn important guys play in the AHL for their development and injuries slow that process down. So annoying.

i figure Carolina would like a prospect of some kind and Bura's year pretty much makes him a pretty useless and expensive player right now and i see him as a salary dump to be honest. We could then probably resign Feland and Vrana by dumping Bura's contract anyway. maybe they give us a 2nd rounder or add another of their players but i think trading Bura will be like trading Orpik (who i like) but he is perceived as old and expensive. Bura right now is not producing at all and expensive. Teams aren't going to give that much for him.
