If I had to choose one of those it would be the Price for Seguin. Benn is older with a high salary that pays him till he is in his late 30s, giving up that much for him would bite us in the ass.

I doubt that Dallas trade any of them.. but Option 2 is in Dallas favor...
And Goaltender would be fixed in Dallas with Price in option 1... and getting the best C @ World Junior Champ in Poehling...

I would go for Seguin as well in getting a real 1C... but it is a harder one for Dallas...
Benn is there Capt and have a Full NoTrade clause... would need to be convince by his Brother in Mtl :-)

Best C at jrs....That would be Hughes. Poehling is not even playing C there he’s been mostly on LW. There’s a pretty good chance he goes back for SR year and becomes a free agent as well.

He isnt going back for his senior year, he is more likely to sign after this college season. St.Cloud is coming out of its window for a championship this year and will have 9 players leaving at the end of this season not including Poehling. He will be pro ready at the end of this year and without the motivation of a possible championship in college will move into the Habs organization.

His motivation is controlling his own destiny. And one final year with his brothers, something that he may never get again. He goes back and goes FA he can sign with anyone. His childhood team the Wild would be all over him. Every kids dream is to play for his favorite team growing up. Not having to pay taxes in 2 countries is a nice motivation too. He has more reason to stay then he does to go. Depends on what he wants.

I did not say he was having the best tournament, i said he is the best center in it. There is a difference. If you had your choice right now of any center there to be on your team for the next 10 year who are you taking?

people jump on the silliest things. Neither are going anywhere and it was just an attempt by the ownership to get them going. Not how I would go about it but some people think this kind of negative motivation works

Sorry $925,000 isnt motivation to go? He already went to college early to play with his brothers, he got 3 good years, but I dont see any motivation to stay in college, make no money and loose all year. Plus your acting like MTL hasnt gone over this with him, he has come to every development camp they have had (something vesey and other college FAs never did with thier drafted team), MTL has even consulted on medical decisions with him (they paid for his tonsil surgery). I can see how from the outside a fan of another team would want him to screw the Habs over but it's not happening, they have played thier hand carefully with him and he won't walk away from them.

925,000 will be waiting for him whenever he signs wherever he signs. It’s also more valuable elsewhere after taxes. They have also added Domi and Kotko since he was drafted locking up top 6 C for years. Added a handful of others as well. Simple question what would you do? Go back for a year of college hockey, college parties, and one last year with your brothers then sign with any team you want, likely your childhood team, and step right in the lineup? Or leave and sign with a team that you have no ties to, has not been succesful your entire life, in another country, pay taxes in both, have to learn a new language, media scrutinizes your every move? Pretty easy choice for me. I don’t know what he will do. But it’s not a given either way. I know what i’d do. What would you? If say Arizona or Carolina had your rights and you knew you could sign with Montreal by waiting a year? Would you?

It would depend on the relationship with the team. Poehling has been treated very very well by the Habs organization. He will also have a chance to play a very promenade role with this team moving forward. You're not wrong but it will be interesting how it plays out. Overall though there has to be some certainty in these college draft choices, I understand thier right to go to FA but not that early in thier careers, every other player is basically forced to sign with the team that drafted them, think something should be put in place to fix this problem.
