Take Jones out of the trade and it could be brilliant. Not a lot of teams don't want to trade for Panarin since he will be a free agent a couple months later. If Toronto trades for him as a rental Columbus at least gets some thing for him. With Panarin Toronto would have to be the favorite to win the cup. Next season Toronto will be different team so why not go all in now?

"Trade him while you can because he’s gonna walk in free agency". Then the Leafs have "him" as a free agent, so wouldn't the Leafs trade him before he walks? Eventually some team(s) are going to have all the upcoming 90 UFAs...they all don't get traded.
