rangers pass very easily-- it'll take a top 5 prospect to even get them to listen. You don't want to pay that so stop offering.
Petan isn't anything special (bottom six forward) and cap dump of kulikov is over the top. Limits the rangers ability to go after panarin in free agency (or stone) and doesn't make them better.

A center that is on pace for 73 points won't be that cheap, even as a rental (and that's factoring in his slow start to the season).
If we remove the slow start and do his avg since november 1st he has 29 points in 25 games good for a 1.16 points per game average. With 45 games left that would be 52 more points this year, when added to his current 33 points that would be 85 points.
This combined with positive possession stats and a rel CF% of 7.8 on a piss poor possession team, he will fetch a top 5 prospect and a late 1st rounder as a rental. Which is not what you offered here.

I’m really not sure how you think any team is going to trade a top 5 prospect (assuming you mean league wide) for a pending UFA who has never put up more than 50 points. You’re taking a two month sample size and ignoring the larger sample to skew your argument while assuming he will maintain this scoring pace as though he won’t hit a slump or slow down as that is what is career history would suggest. What you’re asking for in return is way too much, last year statstny was traded at the deadline for a B-prospect, a first and a fourth. Even if you think Hayes is worth more than Stastny (which is certainly up for debate) I doubt he’d be able to fetch a return of a first, a second, a sixth a solid prospect in Dylan Samberg and some depth. Maybe take out kulikov from this trade but ultimately his negative value helps offset all the assets going to NYR.

Actually the difference between hayes this year and the past two years has been his utilization. The last two seasons was 57.3 and 59.3 percent in defensive zone starts-- this doesn't make sense for a player as gifted as hayes is offensively. This year he is at 51.7 defensive zone start which shows the significant difference in utilization and he is averaging over two more minutes per game than the rest of his career. With Quinn as coach he was given opportunity he wasn't under AV. I didn't realize 25-37 games was a "small sample size". If you've actually watched a NYR game this year you will actually see that Hayes takes over the game almost every single shift. I use the projections for this year because that is his current value.
Hayes has skated in 342 games, and has a stat line of 59-83-142 at 5v5, that is good for a P/60 rate of 1.99. Of those 142 points, 114 are primary and his rate of primary points per 60 is 1.60. In all situations, Hayes’ stat line reads 81-119-200 with a P/60 rate of 2.26; 157 of the 200 are primary points, and his P1/60 rate stands at 1.78. Find a center available at the deadline with these stats-- you won't. Find one that has these stats that has been traded at the trade deadline-- you will not.

I like that you bring up stastny. Because in fact, the season he was traded he had 40 points in 63 games (and was in between 40 and 50 the prior three NHL seasons), good for a .63 point per game pace (kevin hayes has a career .56 without this season included). In addition to that, he had been starting 54.1% in the offensive zone, so why the lack of production? Arguably Stastny was traded when he had his lowest value in his career, while Hayes is at his highest value. If hayes keeps his average pace that he has had all season, he will have 56 points in 63 games (the same number of games as when stastny was traded) and he'll have 16 more points than him.

Because of Seuss I've looked all over and he isn't even in your top 25 prospects. Plus chances are he will be a good AHL player. He's 24 and has yet to play in ! NHL game. Most successful players play an NHL game when they are 20, every year after that his chances decrease a considerable amount. But it doesn't really matter I'm not sure Winnipeg is on Kronwall list. Most likely he will retire at the end of the season and he may just want to retire as a Wing,

Happy New year!
