No way Holland does this trade, as this is way too lopsided for an unknown. Merkley is talented, but an extreme headcase, and this goes against Detroit's philosophy for strong character people.

I looked up Merkley and on sites that rank prospects he's ranked as high as 1st and as low as 6th. If it was 1 for 1 would you trade for him then.

Here is a huge reason why he tumbled so far in the draft. He's a great offensive talent for a defenseman but an extreme defensive liability. I sort of compare him to Brendan Smith, although more polarizing with better offensive ability and worse defensively. With him also being major headcase, I would pass on him even at 1 for 1 with Nyquist.

Ok thanks for the info. The last player we got from SJS was Dylan Sadowy and he's spent more time in Toledo than he has in Grand Rapids.
