Hayes is a center who’s just under a point per game average. This offer is not close.

Hayes would be a straight rental, i just dont see it. 4-7-4 in last 15 and now eichel is banged up. Zero confidence that he signs an extension, sabres arent a hayes away from a run. I can see them kicking the tires to give the team a chance at a playoff spot, but there is no way the offer they throw out is close to the best offer the rangers get. Its a strange fit too, they want speed, which hayes doesnt have, but this might be a beggars/choosers thing. Still, rangers will get better offers than what the sabres will offer.

Paul Stastny and Martin Hanzal brought back 1st rounders at the deadline. Hayes is a much better player than both and is younger.

this trade is pretty far off....probably take guhle, asplund, davidsson, olofsson instead of elie or a first rounder

The 1st is a lock in acquiring Hayes and tbh Davidsson is looking better than Alex so you would be wiser with keeping Davidsson who is also more versatille as a C.

I actually think Hayes would help tremendously....we’re not necessarily a Hayes away right now, but what we really need is Another two way middle six center for years to come. Mittelstadt will be great in a couple years.

Right now I’d say a player with Hayes production, two-way skill get is into the playoffs, and if the Sabres remained strong down the middle for years to come, they’d be a contender.

But personally I’m not a fan for Hayes on the Sabres. I don’t think his lack of foot speed and Hayes moves at the speed of a glacier, fits in to our emphasis on speed

A career 45 point center who has size, two way ability, can play on special teams, and is a great possession player. He easily gets a first and a good NHL capable prospect with top six or top four D potential
