Good looking roster, but Point starts at $9 mill, or he'll be sheeted.

Devils got a 2nd for taking on the last year of Savard's contract, assume the Devils would at least get that.

@newanda I would think Callahan is a bit more useful than Savard though.

@bootboi I highly doubt thats going to happen. Not trying to sound overly biased but if Stamkos signed for less than im sure Point, being as humble as he is, will take a “pay cut” especially to continue playing on this team. Also, who’s going to offer sheet and give up that much future now-a-days?

If Point is a good guy&smart, he will take a pay cut.
But he could easily be sheeted.

Im 95% sure he wont get more than Stamkos but if you are right, there’s $1.8m in space available for that $9m extension lol

I like Callahan's style of play, but he is playing bottom 6 minutes, his salary is almost $6 million, he is injury prone, and he'll be 34. And not to be a dick, but Savard's contract was more useful as it got the Devils to the cap floor and didn't take a roster spot from a younger player.

I think Point gets the Draisaitl contract or maybe just below it. Still a good team though.

In all honesty if it meant making the 2020 3rd a 2020 2nd im all for it. Callahan is only one more year tho and can kill penalties. I see your points but he isn’t done yet. Just too expensive and outdated for Tampa.

Hometown discount is fantasy thinking by hometown fans who think their hometown is actually a better hometown than other hometowns. Lol. Money talks. Period.

Lol and this is the best team the NHL has seen since the 60’s. Is Point worth it? Yes. Would he be willing to take less than market value to keep winning? Im SURE of it.

FWIW Callahan isn't waiving from a potential cup team in Tampa, For a non-playoff team in New Jersey. Not happening.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pointer signs for 6.5-7M AAV. He is a team guy and also very humble.
