I love how the players in a video game play was used to bolster the argument that Sid is better than Connor. That deflated any legitimacy you had on this topic.

Honestly they are completely different kinds of players. Connor is pure speed and flash. Crosby isn't slow but he plays a much more of a grinder style. Likes to work down low in the corners and around the net. probably the most talented grinder of all time. Both are good of the rush. Both have incredible vision. Overall offense goes to Mcdavid but the Crosby is probably the better all around player. We'll just have to see how Mcdavid matures. Crosby worked really hard to be better at faceoffs and in his own zone. If McDavid has that same work ethic to get that all around game this argument will be over.

Crosby's possession numbers are better than McDavids this year and last year. face off % towers over Mcdavids every year as well as hits and blocks. McDavid averages 12.2 faceoffs per game that's 67th among Centers in the NHL. Crosby averages 22.5. McDavid is 87th among Centers in faceoff win %. Crosby is 11th. Aren't Centers especially #1 centers supposed to take a lot of and win a decent amount of face offs.
I kid of course but just to show that the give away take away stat for forwards is a bit silly. Crosby has also been in the top 10 of Selke voting the past 3 seasons.

yeah face-offs are important but then again when you claim a guy is a cherry picker who doesn't play defense and he towers over the other guy you are comparing to in take aways and has much fewer give aways id say that stat is way more important than face-off wins......

in the last 2 seasons crosby has 55 blocks and mcdavid has 57? (even strength )

so crosby towers over mcdavid in blocks by -2 and he hits more often but its hardly a point of interest to make a point bout who's better at center.

Crosby had 74 hits last year and 41 this year. You can cherry pick and get takeaways because you're always in the neutral zone coasting around. also easy to have less take aways when you have less ice to skate because you don't play a full 200 ft game. but once again these are nit picks.
But stop arguing that Mcdavid is a good defensively. He isn't horrible but lets not elevate him to some Pavel Datsyuk level of of two way play.
