Toronto wouldn't be sending a roster player for a deadline pick up.

Faulk is under contract next year, so that isn’t just a deadline pickup. The players and compensation can be argued, but not the needs of both teams.

I’d question why Philly would be buying at the TDL. Might want to consider a different team.

I think the "need" to pay a high premium for a defenceman can be greatly contested. They are a top 5 defensive team this year and they haven't been 100% healthy at all this season. It stands to reason that TO is in great shape and will get better once their injured players are back and up to speed. Carolina on the other hand has a massive need for scoring, who do you think would overpay in that trade scenario? The team without and clear cut holes or the one who is going to miss the playoffs for the 10th year in a row?

Would ask Eriksson Ek from Minnesota.
No MacDonald, thanks.
Kapanen would be nice addition but Leafs will try to retain him. Maybe try Brown after the end of current season.

You missed my point, and got defensive...

I said the players and compensation can be argued. My point was that you can’t just claim the move is a ‘deadline pickup’ when the player is under contact for another year.

Yes the Canes need scoring, yes they are now very much likely to miss the playoffs again. I’ll keep my comments toward the post.

I just don't see TO making a move for Faulk, his contract next season makes it even more difficult for TO to manage their cap situation. I imagine they'll go after a cheaper expiring contract, they don't need to pay the price it would take to get Faulk.
