Vancouver has the other Hughes brother, drafted last year. They certainly aren't breaking up the brothers.

This is why they would trade up for him.

Thanks Stan. I misread. That sure puts the pressure on GM Bowman and the second pick Kakoo to "be as good as Hughes". That would be a courageous trade.
Chicago is Seabrook's home. I don't put much faith that he's yearns for Vancouver. He does have a summer home in the maybe it's Kelowna?.

That’s for sure!! I’ve alread seen proposed trades to acquire the first pick.

Now that Kakko scored the game winner at The WJC the argument over who’s better should really heat up now

I think Chicago has quite a bit of leverage in this situation. I don’t think they could get a crazy amount (more) back, but it’s definitly possible. Perhaps a third round pick?

I don’t really know that Hughes will be the first overall. Not looking so dominant with tougher competition this year. Know I’m going to get some hate but that’s how I see it.

But Hughes has the highest ceiling for sure. It's a Matthew Laine draft. For a team in a complete rebuild, I would draft Hughes without question. For a team like the Hawks that are retooling, I would take Kappo

Hughes is not Matthews. I think that is really starting to show this year. My opinion.

Disagree; I wouldn't make that kind of assumption at this point...way too early to judge. He's been compared to Matthews, Eichel, Kessel...and keep in mind, he's clearly dealing with an injury this year. Hard to say what he'll end up being but he has all the tools to be one of the elite players in the NHL.

I’m not even talking about his world junior performance.
Matthews was playing dominantly For Zurich at this point in his career. And was 6’2 200lbs.

Hughes is not playing as well against juniors this year and I really just don’t know if he will be ready to step into an NHL role with any real success next season.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but it is how I see it.

Hughes has been battling an injury all season and is a year younger then Matthews was also.

On another note, this hockey night from Toronto production broadcasting crap is a third rate laughable attempt to mimic Monday night NFL football. It's embarrassing; the NHL needs to shut it down immediately. Second and third rate musicians performing...ugh...so bad.

Can play both. He played the entire season at C, but RW in the WJC. Definitely better at C tho.

I understand what hockey night is but it's not like the way they are doing it now. It's quite obvious they are trying to make a big television production of it and failing royally. Frankly it makes Canadians look like a country 20 years behind which it's not.

The thought isn't bad but the flawed logic is thinking that Seabrook would agree to a trade. Seabrook isn't going anywhere, not even to Vancouver. No one wants that contract and I think he wants to end his career as a Blackhawks player. Not even uniting the Hughes brothers on a team with a history of brothers on the Canucks and the history of a Blackhawks trade making it possible for the Sedins to play together could do it. Congratulations though, you've made the best case for a Seabrook trade outside of a compliance buyout that I've seen. The Blackhawks biggest hope to unsaddle themselves from riding Seabrook's horse into the ground remains a compliance buyout being added to the new agreement with the NHLPA after the coming lockout. Even then, they probably wouldn't use that option until they absolutely need the cap space and it would essentially be in agreement with Seabrook as his retirement. Keith will be traded before Seabrook and they won't trade Keith either. As long as McDonough is the team president, Toews, Kane, Keith, and Seabrook will retire as Blackhawks. It's an organization thing. They want the legacy of those 4 players for the brand. McDonough is huge on brand. Those 4 are going to have statues and their numbers retired. I bet McDonough was the reason for Seabrook's contract to begin with and maybe Bowman might have been responsible for the term to stretch out the cap hit? Whaddya think, Stan?
