Top 6 is deep but doesnt leave a lot of cap to reup cat and strome with all the FAs you signed. I'd rather target 1 or 2 younger core type players or short term vets to help out the new guys than guys in their prime now who might be over the hill by the time cat strome joki and boqvist are in their prime - were not winning any cups in the next few years with the way the d looks, might as well plan ahead. And if boqvist makes the team next year, which he likely will, murphy will either but moved, or be the one playing on his off side, not seabs

Hawks aren't in last place.....and neither AA or Forsling trades are dumping and good fits for BUF...of course if you think Mittelstadt is the future 2C or 3C for you then good luck!

Top 9 is deep. Cap goes up another $3M, so that's $6M available. Hawks move murphy as Ian Mitchell will come up the season after; that's $10M. Hawks move Kahun as Kurashev takes his role. Most importantly, rumor is the new CBA includes a compliance buyout with the expansion draft so that means Seabs is gone and so is that salary but even without that, Hawks have the room to re-sign Cat and Strome.

Totally disagree on the D side. Gus is extremely solid, Murphy is very solid, Joki is only getting better next year and he's already a 1st liner. Keith is still good enough in our zone. Dahlstrom is a decent 3rd pairing. Boqvist is better then Jokiharju was this time a year ago...simply put. The pairings I have are based on playing a offensive D guy with a stay at home guy. This D grouping is extremely fast and that is the new NHL. They would be ready to make a run next year and become serious contenders then few years following that.

You're a real winner guy!!! Seriously, I think everyone on this website should start a social fan movement to have you the new GM....you're that good! I mean, trade everyone is the brightest idea any of us have probably heard before. You shouldn't be giving away such genius suggestions like this for free; get paid for them...be a REAL GM with that level of intelligence.

The whole forward group is deep. This would be a fun team to watch and dont get me wrong this is a playoff team you put together, but not one that would seriously contend for a cup in my opinion. joki is a very good young d man but and boqvist looks like he will be even better but as a rule dmen take longer to develop and these young guys are still several years away from really being dominant on the back end and having a complete game in all 3 zones which is what it takes to win 7 game series against good teams. How many dmen under 22 eat up top 4 minutes in deep playoff runs? Almost none. In reality Keith and Joki probably slot in as decent 3-4 guys on a true deep contender like tampa washington nashville calagry, murphy, gus and seabs are all tweener 2nd-3rd pairing special teams guys. The top end defensive talent just isnt developed yet and wont be a for a few more years

Don't know how signing UFAs would be fleecing Ottawa. Teams that usually pay the most to sign UFAs are the ones that are fleeced long term (and I like Duchene and Stone)
