I signed stone will cost a lot more than that lol.

OTT would want to start with DeBrusk + Frederic/Studnicka

And how are you going to sign everyone next year If you sign Stone for 8m per? With an 83m cap and Chara retires you’d have about 12M left to sign Mac, Carlo Donato and replacements for Chara and Acciari? Mac and Carlo are going to get 10+. So you have to move Backes...good luck, or Krug for picks then replace Krug. Dug yourself a hole. Sens help you out and decline anyway.

Not so sure that cost is out of whack to come to Btown, value is another story, just think he is a lot better fit than Schenn or Simmonds. If they wait till the deadline as a rental what would they get?

I personally think Krug is a no brainer he has to go anyway and it would give us a shot for this year which we don't have now.

This trade is not even remotely close for even a rental Stone. Then you go and add that Ottawa retains 50% salary (lmao) and extension is already agreed upon with Boston. And on top of all that Ottawa trades within the divsion. This has to be joke right?

Backes will be moveable after his bonus is paid out in the off- season.

If he wants to. He still has an NTC for 3/4 of the league.

The salary is only for this season, none of your ufa's are re- signing you need a total rebuild. What do you think is fair? Those are 3 solid NHL prospects for a rental.

He does, but Boston could ask him to waive his NTC if there was team on his list that they had a deal with. I could see Backes going back to the mid-west, maybe use a team needing to get to the floor to retain cap space as a middle man

Ya - I figure there will be a little more give. But he also knows his career is winding down and his name on a Cup has to be a high priority as well. The teams that are looking to use him to get to cap floor are not going to be desirable. Guess we will see. As much as B’s fans would hate this, I think he should be playing with Marchy and Bergy right now, Debrusk/Krejci/Pasta work well together. Kid line is developing nice chemistry. 4th line plays well together. Let the 2 big guns carry him around he can pick up some scraps and maybe salvage some value out of him when they do try to move him.

Stone costs more than this.

Krug should be in the deal to balance salaries and give Ottawa an NHL talent. I like Heinen, but he's not playing at an acceptable level point wise to be of value to another team. He's on pace for about 20 points, no-one is giving a 1st line winger for a package involving that little NHL talent, unless you are trading them blue chip prospects and 1st round picks.

Lauzon is solid, but lets be serious.... he's only played 15 games thus far and while he has good upside he could just as easily max out as a #6.

I like what I've seen from JFK, but it's a realistic possibility he amounts to a dependable 3rd line C.

This package has the chance of being 3 3rd liners or even worse so Ottawa would probably be able to do better by getting something centered around a top 6 player with term or a 1st round pick + whatever else.

Something more like Krug + 2019 1st + Senyshyn would be more accurate in terms of value imo. They get a 1st in this years draft (which they don't have right now), an NHL talent (Krug is leading the Bruins in ice time and scores at a high rate) and the teams best RW prospect.
