Marner also said he wouldn't sign in season so you can probably sign him before the end of April sir

Yeah that is true. So perhaps he waits until then, who knows. Either way I am not concerned about the big guns. Many of the fans on here absolutely live the extreme scenarios and talk about them as if its a foregone conclusion that this crazy stuff will happen. All summer long fans on here were sure that Nylander was going to sign an offersheet. He did not.

Fair enough it is just crazy to think if they get there these re-builders with a lot of cap don't take a big run at them such as the Coyotes we will see come the offseason though

You realize Matthews is from Scottsdale and still spends his summers there. He was on the record saying he was hoping Arizona would win the draft lottery to take him.

Matthews is from Arizona, what a surprise. May/my not affect his destination thought NHL players are adults. Most have lived in away from home since they 16. It's not a big thing to move away. And let's be real, the Coyotes are a dark hole in the NHL. Even when the Leafs play there the arena is no where near full and the folks that are there are snowbirds. When Seattle enters the league, Phoenix is moving to the Central Division. What a horrid schedule.....Dallas then Denver are there closest division rivals, Nashville and St Louis to the East, Minn, Chicago and Winnipeg to the north.

the point is not that Matthews would go to Arizona. It could be any team that could offer him this contract; don't get hung up on the destination. The point is it would force the leafs to match and get Matthews to UFA asap while simultaneously butchering the leafs cap situation. Focus on the terms of offer sheet not the team that is offering the contract.
