Burakovsky and Smith-Pelley are Stanley Cup champs.

Jaskin is a speedy, tough, multilingual corsi machine who is learning to kill penalties and on pace for two goals this season. awesome face

I think you can certainly make a stand against scapegoating, but I'm not sure insulting another clutch scorer is the best way to make that point.

Trotz used to bench Burakovsky too much, and Burakovsky usually came back and scored a bunch of goals, but there's clearly a diminishing return, and Reirden was hired on a reputation of patient, direct communication and clear expectations. He should be himself, to help Burakovsky be himself.

Here's the thing. Burakovsky's ceiling is clearly way higher than DSP's, that's not even debatable, but Burakovsky's floor is also much lower than DSP's and recently the Caps have been getting a lot of bad performances from him. He constantly takes horrendous stick penalties in the offensive zone and him just falling asleep mid shift against the Flyers led to their first goal of the game. I get it, the upside is high for Burakovsky, but until he starts to string some consistent performances together, DSP is the better option.

Dsp turn over leaf to the bruins first goal. Both are make questionable decision but bura needs to be on the ice playing.... dsp brings very little to the table.

DSP at least kills penalties. His breakout passing was awful last night though.

I mean. Wilson backstrom Stephenson Oshie Boyd they all can kill penalties also. Bura has never been given a chance to kill penalties in all fairness.

He kills penalties, he wins battles below the goal line, he always forechecks and backchecks hard, these are valuable attributes for a bottom six guy. You won't find someone who wants Burkie to succeed more than me, I think the guy has all the talent in the world. But until he starts playing better, I understand the decision to scratch him. He hasn't just been mediocre lately, he's been playing some of the worst hockey in his professional career.

Based off of previous deadlines, rental wingers are usually start with a first rounder. Considering Kreider has another year on his deal, I'd say a 1st+
