bye bye bura and sammy

Description
Copley and Vanacek are killing it so Sam and bura who are struggling and might need a change of scenery could get us 3 years of Bjugstad. Opinions please about BJugstad in our top nine and playing wing not center...

That;s overpayment. Washington won't trade Samsonov because he is their future plan after Holtby.

There's also the possibility that we sign Holtby long term again. The Caps don't just move out top players like the pens or chicago did when they were on top. Bmac might do all he can to resign holtby long term even if it means moving a niskanen or oshie etc. holtby is a top 5 goalie easy and has won a stanley cup, you don't just move on from him...

I’m not against trading samsonov but I would want a player like jordan kyrou. A really good offensive prospect since the capitals don’t have too many in the pipeline.

As for bura I would rather trade him to buffalo for nylander. Bura nhl numbers mirror his ahl numbers. Backstrom could mentor him

ok I replaced malgin with vatrano. But Bjugs is a 15 to 20+ goal scorer under contract for 3 years. This is a top 6 to top 9 kinda player for a goalie and project and a salary dump no? i add bura to every trade because we need to dump him as we need room and money cleared for next years signings. it seems quite clear when we add bura to every trade that he's seen as a negative or a minus so i am making that up by offering more to offset that.

Holtby is 30 Years Old already why would they sell the younger and cheaper guy and keep the older guy and end the chance at a longer cup window?

Probably more like Klim Kostin or Oliver Wahlstrom someone of that caliber yes. Jordan Kyrou is good, but not Samsonov worth.

Sounds good. i just think the caps would do well to move bura out for cap space (kinda like orpik deal but at the deadline for cup run) and give a real good prospect and roster player for that 3rd line left/right wing (since connolly can play either side) and make the top 9 deadly this year.

Bc the other goalie in Hershey is also young and also playing really well....not to mention samsonov isn’t playing well and could potentially be a bust. Holtby will be good till he’s mid 30. Look at fluery

I think Boyd will fit nicely there. His ahl numbers are awesome. Just needs time to adjust

While I somewhat get that analogy I still think I would take a chance on Sammy more than trade him away for something not even close to the worth. It's basically Hall for Larsson except it's a prospect vs. a nhl player.

Because holtby, i believe is in the lundquist, fleury, luongo class of goaltenders who can be on top for 5 to 7 more years. if he wants bobrovski or lunquist money im fine with that but if he wants price money you're right.

That would be great. i have loved the very few times he's been with Ovie on the top line he's surprisingly good.

i get it. my trades haven't ever included sam till now but getting something in a package that includes Bura but he's seen by every teams fan as generally a negative so maybe the Caps just have to let him walk after this year...

I think he contributes to the team enough to say you can re-sign, but I think he walks this year. Yeah I could agree to that.

I totally understand the frustration over Samsonov’s North American transition, but trust me, as a Canucks fan, we went through this with Demko.

Samsonov: 17GP 3.82 GAA .861 SV%
Demko: 19GP 3.06 GAA .893 SV%
Brossoit: 10GP 4.04 GAA .875 SV%
Price: 10GP 2.69 GAA .896 SV%
Rinne: 56GP 2.92 GAA .904 SV%
Crawford: 48GP 2.94 GAA .898 SV%
Bishop: 33GP 2.81 GAA .897 SV%
Anderson: 28GP 2.85 GAA .886 SV%

Even Fleury barely cracked a .901 SV% over a full year of starting in the AHL. Don’t worry. Samsonov will improve. Sometimes it takes a while. He’s still incredibly young and most goalies don’t crack the NHL until they are 23-24 and don’t get the starting gig for 2-3 more years. Give him time. He’s been a rock at every level. There’s no reason to think that he can’t improve.

Burakovsky's 23 with four seasons over 10 even strength goals. Bjugstad is 26 with three. Personal bests: 17, 18. Points this year: 8, 10. You could swap them straight up, if Bjugstad's tiny claims to play a more defensive role make up for age and lack of playoff experience. Two years ago, Bjugstad totalled 14 points in 54 games, with three on the power play.

I think Barkov or Couturier could be almost worth trading Samsonov for, but no need to throw in Samsonov on an older, less consistent Burakovsky. Copley hits UFA this summer. Vanecek is finally decent in the AHL after how many years? Holtby hits UFA the next summer and there's the expansion draft. That apparent depth in goal could be all gone in three years.
