RNH/Yakupov Trades

Description
Some (sorta) realistic trades between Edmonton and two New York teams.

Hayes is an RFA that the Rangers may not be able to sign, and Hamonic asked for a trade earlier in the season, citing that he wants to be closer to his family in western Canada. Edmonton is western Canada, so it makes sense. RNH, while great, has been demoted to a 3C as Draisaitl and McDavid are now the 1-2 punch up the middle.

Oilers bottom six gets very gritty with the signings of Eaves. Only Kassian was a FA, and one who they should bring back. All other guys down there have at least one more year on their contracts that for many, should not be renewed.

The oilers don't have many contracts expiring, so they might just have to go the trade route this offseason if they are to make any changes, which they need if they want to call it a success.

Don't mean to burst your bubble but Hamonic rescinded his trade request recently, so I doubt that he will be moving from NYI. But if he were to, I think that trade could work if you take Griess out, NYI value him more after his play this past season.

Rangers fan here... have to ask, Hayes has played 2 years 45 pts and 36 pts in a "bad year." Yakupov has played 4 seasons and his highest season is 31 pts vs Hayes worst at 36. Is it worth it for the Rangers to give up Hayes and a 2nd for Yakupov and a 4th? Granted Yakupov is younger and a former 1 overall, but his stats aren't great. Yakupov will probably end up a Ranger as Slats loves him.
Also, for Edmonton, think you can give Hayes 2 years around 2.5m then resign him for 4 at 4.5-5.

Yes, I know he rescinded it, but that sometimes can mean the opposite. (Don't know exactly how it works but a lot of people didn't think much of the rescinding)

Maybe I'm valuing Hayes poorly. But Yak is still only 21-22 and he still has plenty of untapped potential. When playing with McDavid earlier this season, he actually played like a top 6 winger. With Stepan/Brassard centering him he might just turn into something. I do agree to maybe flip the picks, or yak+4th for Hayes. And the contract part too.

Hayes is 2 years older but still young as well and is 6 5 220. I wouldn't be against having Yak, since I do think somehow he is a Ranger this year. Step and Brass are good Cs, but they're nowhere the level as McDavid. Buch is coming over so if Yak does come, hopefully he can be a good role model for him.
