Why not? Janmark has more points this year and would be the better short term upgrade for the Caps this year
Burakovsky, 23, averages 2.05 points/60, career. Janmark, 26, averages 1.51. He does look defensively better than DSP this year, but last year he didn't, and it's hard to tell whether the change is innate, or from linemates. So the conversation on Burakovsky to Dallas starts with Radek Faksa, a 25 year old at only 1.48 p/60, career, who is used to a bigger defensive role than Janmark, won't hit arbitration this summer, and won over 50% of his faceoffs, one year. The Caps have four pretty good bottom six centers already, but only Eller has over two years of NHL experience in a checking role, so if some of the others struggle in the playoffs, Faksa at 4C could be a steadying influence; Boyd and Stephenson can each play left wing just fine. Faksa only has 94 points, while Burakovsky has 128, but Faksa makes up for it in two way play, so that makes it a "hockey trade." A 2L for a 3C while getting slightly older isn't ideal, but if the Caps decide it fits their team needs, maybe they try it?
Or else offer up Gurianov, and see if the Caps feel lucky enough to take your word on his potential, at 21, with 4 NHL points, and trade you a guy who had 95 NHL points by 21. Maybe they'd let you throw in Janmark for Jaskin if it makes the cap hit work for you? That'd be more of a "salary cap trade," though, so it's probably not what MacLellan is looking for.
Edit: would adding a utility forward like Travis Boyd help things out? He seems to be on a bit of a scoring tear, but I'm not sure whether it means anything, yet. Burakovsky and Boyd for Faksa? I guess I should probably just check your screenname for an answer, but.....
