I love the idea of Matthews in Arizona. I doubt any Toronto fans do.

Yeah if Arizona offer sheet's Matthews, It's going to be far more then $12 million per. Try more like $15 million or $16 million per. And if Toronto matches it's going to put them in a rough spot for Marner.

Okay, so I changed it to 16Mil. Does that make you feel better?

By the way, whether the amount is 12 Mil or 16 Mil is irrelevant. They won’t be in a rough spot with Marner as I traded Matthews. So go figure????

When has any GM ever matched an offer sheet?, Only to trade that player to the team that offer sheet him in the first place, Like never GM's don't match offer sheets. Then trade their star players to the team that did the offer sheet.

If Zona misses out on Matthews, I could see them target Marner or better yet Kapanen, who woud be cheaper. By the way where is he on your roster?

Never. Because it's not allowed under the CBA so this whole concept is a bit irrelevant.

If a GM matches an offer sheet he can't trade that player for 1 year from the date they matched the offer sheet

If the Leafs don't want to match the offer sheet, they have the to reach an alternative deal with Arizona. That seem like a deal a Arizona wouldn't do. They would give just the four first rounders. Looks the the following year with Arizona....they will cap issue with their RFAs signing.
Personally I don't the think the Leafs would match 16m, They would keep the four first rounders and spend the 12m they have set aside for Matthews on other players.
