And that Kings team still finishes in a pretty solid lottery spot and gets Kappo Kaako. With the salary room can trade for a #1 goalie in a year if Campbell doesn't establish himself. Next to go would be Martinez, for a younger defenseman...then you buy out the corpse of Kovy and use that cash on a big UFA signing that can score 30+.

Not so bad.

This is about what I think / hope will happen in LA. Just add a Nate Thompson trade. We could be back in a couple of years

I just kept alec out of respect for all he has done for the kings, he's also a great leader for the kings and he could really mentor the younger guys and it also helps keep the D semi good

As a Caps fan that lives in LA and skates at TSC with a few Kings employees the grumbles I have heard (I'm neutral but adopted LAas my west conf team btw) what I've heard is that teams are higher on Martinez and that LA front office thinks there's a better return from him than Muzz.

Understandably a lot of Kings were instrumental in the 2012/2014 Cup runs...but...sometimes change has to happen and the Kings need a rebuild. It would have sucked, but no one would have been surprised if Vegas had been able to work a deal at the expansion draft to take Brownie. But he's found his game again...at that time guys couldn't sell on him fast enough. Phaneuf isn't the guy he once was, he's not worth much but he's eating cap space. Kovy will be a slow one-dimensional corpse by the time his current deal is thru too. And Carter...for all he did...they'll trade him too...so the rebuild will happen and soon.

Best of luck man...GKG!
