Possibilities Next Year

Created by: Hockeyplayer1
Team: 2019-20 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 14, 2019
Published: Jan. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This starts by assuming the Hawks pick within the 5 or 6 spot in the 2019 draft
Potential picks in top 6 include 4 centers (Hughes, Cozen, Dach, & Turcotte?) and 2 right wings (Kakko & Podholzin)
Assuming the Hawks don't win the lottery its very possible they get Cozen or Dach.

I think signing a defenseman would be a mistake. Keith and Seabrook realistically aren't going anywhere and Murphy is under contract for 3 more years as well. With Jokiharju, Mitchell, Boqvist and Beudin all possibly ready for NHL spots within the next 2-3 years it would just cause a log jam. The only D FA signing that would make sense is a 1-2 year deal for a proven top-4 veteran.

QO to Perlini and Kampf and Forsling. None deserve a real raise.

I think they trade one of Dahlstrom, Forsling, or Gustafsson. Should get a decent pick in return for Dahlstrom/Forsling and Gustafsson would provide a rather large return right now. His value is sky high at the moment. IMO he isn't the type of player you build around and keep if the return on a trade is a 1st rounder+.

This team is probably not a Cup team but they would be a playoff team for sure. This is sort of the in between season where you develop players and wait for the real high end prospect to develop. 2020-2021 is the season in which I'd envision the Hawks spend all of there cap space and have a REAL shot at the Cup.

Maybe a Hawks fan can help clarify something for me? Has Duncan Keith ever been a RHD? Like for an extended amount of time that you could then call him a RHD? Not just replacing a player on injury out of necessity rather than peeformance.

So why is he listed as a RHD in this AGM?

No clue. He's playing on the left side here. Why is Jokiharju listed as a LD? No clue.
This is just how capfriendly listed them.

Yeah but that's strange that they'd get one mixed up.

Just looked again.... Now Keith is listed as a LD and Jokiharju is still listed as a LD. Doesn't make any sense.
