EDM Trade Idea

Created by: BruinsFan23
Team: 2018-19 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 15, 2019
Published: Jan. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With:
1. Debrusk being called out by Cassidy today. Debrusk from Edm
2. Chiarelli is pushing hard for playoffs
3. Chiarelli wants a top 6 forward (Debrusk)
4. Chiarelli gave Krug his current deal
5. Oscar Klefbom out 6-8 weeks (back for playoffs)
6. Bruins D depth healthy again. Additional depth in system for LHD
7. Bruins needs top 6 RW, Jesse has that potential upside
8. Bruins could use a goalie prospect (bonus from Mass)
9. Gives Sweeney the comfort to trade their 1st Rd pick at the deadline (if looking like a strong playoff team) without moving them out of the 1st round (hated it last year)

Bruins able to utilize their current depth, send a message to under-performing young forwards, upside of Jesse, additional asset for trade deadline or over the summer. They can stay competitive for playoffs, if the team is exceeding expectations, can be a stronger buyer buy freeing up a 1st to move. I do not think Sweeney moves out of the first round this year for a deadline deal.

It is REALLY tough to send off Debrusk, but a majority of the young Bruins forwards are LH, would be extremely curious if that 2nd LW is the most optimal spot for Ryan Donato, Danton Heinen, or Anders Bjork. Also, not sure the issues behind the scenes but can't imagine it's minor if it made news.

For those who say Krug won't waive, same deal, just remove Oscar K as well and adjust draft picks accordingly (keep Edm 1st in).

Let me know your thoughts.

Yeah i don't like this deal. I like klefbom and picks but puljavatljuavy is terrible I don't want anything to do with him. I get what you're thinking but nah don't do this.

Full disclosure, not a huge Krug fan when it comes to 5v5. As great as he is on the PP, I care more about 5v5 playoff hockey as McAvoy and griz emerge. I agree it makes them worse (talent wise) from now up to the trade deadline by removing debrusk and Krug but the truth is with them in a playoff spot today, if this roster isn't capable of maintaining or improving on their position by the trade deadline, the roster is way too far from beating Tampa in the playoffs (likely true) nevermind Western top trans So it gives you options at the deadline, if the team is a strong contender, can trade their own first, etc to improve further. That addition, in addition to Oscar K coming back from injury before playoffs puts them in a very strong position. If not a contender.... More assets for the summer and a slight reduction in salary to go towards RFA this summer.

So why not just trade Krug for a forward? Honestly, while it’s worse value wise, just Krug straight up for puljujarvi is better for the bruins

Edmonton is on Krug’s no trade list so that puts an end to it real quick.

Once Oscar K returned from injury Edm would have too many D, but I suppose they could move someone else if they chose. Krug > pulj though so wouldn't do that straight up

Chia likes Heinen and Cehlarik and expressed interest in them in the offseason. With those 2, Debrusk, Donato, Bjork all LH wings there is only so much room for them. I could see a Heinen for Puju based trade. B’s could send him to Prov til he is dominant there and take some pressure off him.

Beware of sticking euros in the minors for too long...they might just head over seas.

Also Heinen has been playing pretty well lately.

Can't trade Debrusk, he is a legitimate top 6. If you trade debrusk to fill in the hole in our 2 line RW, we are creating a hole in our 2 line LW, so it wouldn't make sense. And I don't think Puj is the 2nd line RW we need, I don't think he is good enough.
