Now that depends on where Chicago picks this draft. Saad, Toews, Panarin, Debrincat, Hughes/Kakko, Kane, Kahun, Anisimov, Perlini, Highmore, Strome, and Kampf is deep enough offensively. Keith, Gustafsson, Forsling, Murphy, Mitchell, Jokiharju, and Seabrook is average for a D unit, and say, Delia and Crawford/Lehner is enough goaltending to get a wild card spot. That offence looks potent to me.

You are not wrong, the west is not exactly a power house anymore but Toews and Kane as they move deeper into their 30's are not going to get better. Saad already looks like his best days are behind him, there are a tonne of ifs here and everything would have to fall perfectly for them to really have a chance at contending again.

This would be a dumb trade for the Blackhawks and Stan Bowman in particular. It would never happen.

You forgot Boqvist who is coming up next season.

Keith - Jokiharju
Gus - Boqvist
Dahlstrom/Forsling - Murphy

That's a pretty decent Defensive lineup....not top 10 but certainly top 25 and with that offense you certainly could say this team will control possession in the offensive zone enough to shelter defensive shortcomings. It's not a cup team but it's a playoff team for sure.

Don't need CBJ to agree. Panarin is going to the free market in the offseason and zero reason for the hawks to give up anything to get him now. It will be a bidding war with Chicago a top 5 contender.

Kane and Toews are having the best season of their careers. Kane's is easily measurable, Toews if you look at advanced stats. You don't go from having the best season of your career, especially two players that are considered elite in this era, to going down hill dramatically in the next two years. In two years, both should slide slightly but what does that mean? Kane is no longer a top 10 player to now a top 30 player? I'll take it.

This is a very bad move for the hawks. They will compete with LA and NY and the offseason for Panarin as a free agent. Unless NY or LA trades for him now and signs an extension, he will be going to the highest bidder aligned with a large market team. Hawks are all in on Panarin as they've said with the likelyhood he hits free agency.

I doubt that the Hawks really have much competition with Panarin. LA doesn’t have the cap space, and also because of cap reasons NYR can’t offer him the 10 million that Chicago could. They’ve got a lot more flexibility than either of those teams. Plus, neither can offer playing with Patrick Kane. That in and of itself is reason to sign. And could you imagine if the Hawks got Hughes? Panarin would be a lock in Chicago. Playing with Hughes and Kane is an opportunity that few can offer.

I think any team will massage their cap space to get Panarin. NY (Islanders or Rangers), LA (Kings or Ducks), Chicago, and Tampa are all destinations Panarin is looking at. I agree today, Hawks have the best shot with current cap space. Also agree, Panarin would play on a line with Kane again anytime...they had amazing chemistry and that's not always easy to find even for an elite player like Panarin. Panarin alsoloved living in Chicago and has said Chicago is very high on his list. I think Chicago has the best shot at him but it's far from a done deal and wouldn't be surprised is it doesn't happen. I give it a 35% chance of happening.

Kakko, Hughes or even Cozens on a line with Kane and Panarin would be incredible.
