Labanc is the most talented player in the trade and a full 8 years younger than Zuccarello. I don't see how the Sharks make this trade for 2 veteran rentals, 1 who is producing less than the core piece given up and the other who wouldn't even crack their 3 D-pairings. Why would the Sharks even want McQuaid?

mquaid is the type of player every team wants in the playoffs and zucc by name alone would get a nice return but now that the groin injury that was effecting him is gone he is starting produce once again

I'm just pointing out that with Burns/Karlsson/Braun all on the right side, I don't see how it makes sense to give up a young proven NHL forward in Labanc along with a top-50 prospect (according to Pronman's most recent rankings) in Chmelevski and the team's most recent 3rd rd pick for 2 rental players.

I should have added some notes but the idea was to take Neal, see if he can find some form next year, move him (keeping some salary)or buy him out. Expose him in the expansion draft for 2020 ....
But yeah i was torn, but i think Neal can start scoring some goals again & Staal won't get any better at defense, & we want to clear spots for the younger guys. I think Quickie won't be a part of the rebuild down the line & Calgary might need that to do the Staal/Neal swap. Staal can help the Flames on the 3rd Pair. Hes a vet, been to finals, Conference finals....

Curious what a Hayes to Jets deal would look like form a Jets fan perspective?
In this scenario the Jets keep their best prospect(s). (Kristian Vesalainen, Dylan Samberg, Appleton ...???)
Trade from a point of strength on the back end.
Get 2 top 6 forwards, Namemstikov fills a lot of holes & he's not a rental, hes got another year at 4 Mil on his deal.
The Jets have a Tone of Cap space.
The Jets are looking to get over the hump to get to the SC.
The picks are spread out over 2 years & will be what a 25th-30th & 50th -60th? Not like its top 10 picks being given up.
The Jets give up 1 roster player & hes 3rd /4th line player on that team.

McQauid has a Stanley Cup Ring. GMs love bringing in guys that win. He'd be there for depth for a long cup run & can play RD or LD in the event of an injury on the 3rd pair.
Its basically Labanc for Zuccarello, again ZUC is a vet with a lot pf playoff experience on a big stage. GM's love that too.
SJ has no picks to really offer & those prospects are a far way from the NHL, the Sharks are in win now mode & are in a cap crunch, so with the retained money, thee guys are basically costing the Sharks nothing. GMs also love that.

We could potentially lose two D next year and a few Forwards. We need both those players. As for the cap, next year will be a challenge and we dont need a 4M 4th liner(cuz thats what he will be)

Labanc is on pace for about 50 pts this year. They're not going to trade a younger, roster player for Zucc who is already putting up a similar amount of points Zucc has been known to put up. They might trade some other non-roster prospects, but contending teams don't trade well contributing roster guys.

I take everything back. Give me Zucc (1.75 mil retained) and a 3rd rd pick or Labanc straight up.
