Hopefully Blandisi will turn into something otherwise, they just traded some nice playoff depth in Grant for a guy who looks to be stuck in the AHL for life, if he doesn't improve.

Gran't isn't "Depth" he's an AHL quality guy on this team. He would have been starting over Wilson if he had any level of talent at all.
This was purely a cap move. They removed 650k off the books in making this move.
I like this move because it's a good sign for Angelo.

Blandisi has NHL level offensive skill. He can be a 10-15 goal guy in the right situation. The problem has been his defensive game and his play w/o the puck. I watched him in NJ and he was close to breaking out. The guy can shoot the puck. The problem is that he's a top six Forward who's not good enough to play top six minutes! You need to be able to kill penalties or contribute in other ways as a bottom six Forward and so far, Blandisi hasn't been able to provide a fallback role. He's similar to Reid Boucher, whom the Devils also had a few years ago. Eventually, Coach Hynes gave up on both guys b/c they were defensive liabilities.

Yes, its a good sign for Anthony Angelo, but Grant is actually very good depth. If you didn't notice, he had 24 pts last year on the 4th line for ANA. Thats solid for a 4th liner.
