I think they will want a 1st involved. They traded two 1sts for him and also have traded one to buffalo. That's an underwhelming package of useful, but not overly good players for a guy like schenn

tears of joy I just commented in the other thread where i saw this proposal. Moving it over here.

Interesting concept. Just based on "body counts" I would think STL has to include another player, or a pick is included instead of Heinen. Probably something that will be very slow-developing - the western conference standings are so fluid these days.

Personally, I'd rather have Schenn than add 3 guys that are 23, 23, and 25 to the mix. Inconsistency and a lack of chemistry (and goaltending) have been our downfall this year; I'm not convinced our NHL lineup needs a ton of changes. They're actually putting it all together over the last month or so - finally putting up consistent efforts and starting to gel. I think if we come up short of the bubble at the TDL, a Schenn trade should be more of a 'sell' move (for picks/young prospects).

I pretty sure they could do it now, but even if not it would be a handshake agreement between Schenn & BOS.

Can't see Boston giving up a 1st. Sweeney hates trading 1st as he's a draft and develop guy. Not to mention that 1st probably doesn't even sniff an NHL roster for 3-4 years. STL isn't rebuilding, they want players that can play in the NHL now.

Per my comment in the other thread...I think a lot depends on Army and if he think Schenn is willing to stay.

Not quite enough. Heinen's value has gone down since last year, and St Louis is already sorted on the left side of defense so Grezlyck doesn't make sense for them, but JFK is a good piece to start with. Maybe add in a 2020 1st, Bjork/Lauzon with JFK to really make it worthwhile for both teams. Also, if there is an extension involved, another high pick/B prospect should be added.

It seems fair but idk if st Louis thinks that package makes them better. It helps with depth but I guess it depends what you think heinens ceiling is. If ask for Fredrick instead of JFK

For sure - that conversation either halts or accelerates the trade. But even if it is clear that he doesn't want the extension, I think the trade has to be more future-oriented. Grz would jump in right away and that's a good thing given our LHD situation. Heinen and Cehlarik would be added to the mix of like 10 other guys fighting for roster spots in the bottom six - and they'd be two of the older guys. I'm not the GM but if I was I'd be more focused on a younger player or a pick(s). Grz could still be the base.

Just think about it going the other way - would Boston have any need for Zach Sanford and Ivan Barbashev if they gave up a top-6 forward? They're probably not better options than what they currently have and they'd likely be overtaken by Frederic/Studnicka/JFK/etc very soon.

I don't think Boston gets schenn then. There will be plenty of teams in on him

How are they set on the left side? J-Bo and Gunnarsson are both UFA's at the end of the season. That leaves them with Edmundson and Dunn.

Being that Boston doesn't have a player that is a comp to Schenn i.e. age, contract, production....I honestly couldn't say.

Per Bruce Cassidy, Grz is out of the lineup tonight. This isn't for his play, because he's actually been very solid the last 2-3 games. Could be precautionary because BOS is close to moving him in a deal.

I wouldnt read too much into it. I think it more so has to do with it being a back-to-back and the Bruins finding Moore and Gryzleck close to interchangeable. Same reason Backes is going in for Acciari. Want to keep legs fresh

Could have just as easily put Moore in for Miller, seeing as Grz/Moore were a duo for part of the season. Could be nothing, but Grz has played well, so its odd timing that they'd scratch him.

Fair enough, I just know that before McAvoy's return they were deciding between Moore and Gryzleck to scratch. Feel like they like having Miller in to balance the lineup of 3 defensive style defenceman and 3 transitional/offensive defenceman.

You're right though, based of skill set I would go with Moore over Miller, I just feel like they're trying to keep it balanced.
