Oilers aren’t looking to trade for a goalie especially one that will be a free agent in July. That’s a huge overpayment as well for Bobrovsky.

Playoff bubble team with GAA in the bottom 10 in the NHL isn't looking to upgrade in net? Peter Chiarelli? Is that you?

As for the overpayment? You get: Perennial Vezina finalist having a down year in which he clearly isn't happy (Heck, you could probably re-sign him long term at a reasonable price at this point).
They get: Top prospect who is still very much a project at this point, a mid second round pic and a 3rd rounder in 2020.

I mean, maybe something like the 2nd is conditional on resigning him, but I would jump at this if I were Edmonton.

Ya Edmonton has lots of holes but koskinen has been more than adequate this year. Look at his numbers. Oilers need to upgrade their wingers before goaltending. Your trade just doesn’t make sense we’re not gonna give away picks in a move that won’t make us significantly better. What are they gonna do have 3 goalies? It’s a good thing your’re not running this team.

I enjoyed the snarky comment at the end there...you're right, thank god it's Peter Chiarelli in charge...

"Adequate" is almost the perfect term for Koskinen, especially for such a well oiled playoff machine like the Oilers. Those are league average numbers, he's a UFA at the end of the season, and this is most likely his ceiling. Talbot? Also a UFA at the end of the season, and his numbers have consistently dropped off over the past 4 years. Bobrovky if you can get him with an extension? The same age or younger than both of your current guys, is a perennial Vezina candidate having a down season, which really presents itself as a buy-low opportunity. As for your "What are they gonna do, have 3 goalies?" comment? If you're that concerned, send him and the remainder of his deal to Columbus. He has absolutely no value right now anyway, and you'll shed the remaining $1.5ish mil from your cap this year.

I don’t get your point, I know the oilers aren’t a playoff team I never said they were. I admitted they have many holes. Goaltending is not the biggest issue for them. Since you’re an oilers expert and watch them all the time I’d expect you to know that. Koskinens league average numbers are better than Bobrovsky so it’s not an improvement the oilers are better off using the assets suggested in this trade and address and area that’s more crucial to their success. As far as resigning Bobrovsky the oilers cap situation is horrendous we can’t pay bob what he’s gonna be asking.

First off, I didn't claim to be an Oilers expert, so once again, there's no reason to be snarky. I also didn't say that they aren't a playoff team, I said that they were a bubble team. Upgrade your goaltending and suddenly you become a wildcard favorite in that group of Anaheim, Dallas, Minnesota, Vancouver.

If you want to take a small sample size and say that you're better off with Koskinen than Bobrovsky, knock your socks off. Relying on those small samples is fairly dangerous...it's how you end up moving guys like Jordan Eberle for guys like Ryan Strome.

Not trying to sound like a homer but oilers are probably already the favourite of that group. Losing klefbom was when they went on that losing streak. Once he comes back at the end of the month that will help a lot and we have mcdavid. My point is Bobrovsky is a rental and if we’re trading picks and/or Puljujärvi I’d rather them go after stone on Ottawa. Any other year oilers wouldn’t have a sniff at the playoffs but because there are so many mediocre teams in the west they have a 50/50 shot.

Let me narrow it down for you. Bob wants to be on coast, Bob wants a warm weather state. If EDM thinks their smart waiting until free agency to have a shot a Bob their also wrong. They will be in a bidding war with Carolina, Florida, and others where Bob won’t choose EDM anyway.
