Looks like the NHL will be adding this dimension for the coming season. Obviously, there are some seriously skilled players who will thrive. But what about the young, talented Europeans who seem to be frowned on a bit playing on the smaller rinks in NA for the first time? Could they be valuable options in this format as they adapt to the overall game in their new settings? Guys like Teravainen and Panarinon Chicago, for instance, may really dazzle 3-3 with more open ice. Thoughts? (I'm watching Hockey Central on NHLN and they are currently discussing this same topic. For once, I'm actually with the program, I guess.)

I cant wait to see Karlsson in a 3 on 3 format. smile

Also less shoot-outs, especially for the Sens is a good thing!

I feel like the players that thrive off of the "one and done" chances will do very well with the 3 on 3 format. For example, with Carlyle coaching- Leafs game was pretty much a "one and done" offense on the oddman chances. Was how Kessel and JVR got most of their points.
I'm not sure how I feel about talented Europeans having an advantage. So much room out there I feel like any skilled player has just as much advantage to dazzle 3 on 3

I hear ya! I brought up the Euros because many times they are handled with kid gloves because of lack of experience on the smaller rinks. However, ease them in during regulation and, as the 3-3 dictates, let them play with more open ice.
