Description

Mostly I think that the Habs should stay put, except perhaps to acquire LD help. Gustafsson is not amazing but he provides some puck moving skills, can eat minutes and is on a good contract for next season. He's an upgrade on Reilly I think.

I don't think CHI is giving up a young 26 yr old dman with that kind of offensive output for a 2nd round pick. I like the player, but we'd have to give up more.

For comparison... I wouldn't give up Mete for a 2nd... and I think Gustafsson is a better d-man than Mete...

Chicago probably doesnt trade gus unless the return wows them. MTL would need to give a first or an A prospect

If you check out recent Blackhawks cap friendly teams, Gustafsson is being sold frequently for a 2nd, or part of a package for a first. No grade A prospects anywhere, since as Chicago fans describe him, he's a human turn-style in his own end. But he puts up points so a 2nd is reasonable.
