Only trade I could see going through is the 3rd one. Manning and Benn are pretty much the same thing. Adding a 2nd + Spooner doesn't seem like it would be fair, but it's Chiarelli so you never know.

Jordie Benn has had a much better year than Manning, and for half the cost. Chiarelli reportedly has also been trying desperately to rid himself of Spooner.

I'm not helping EDM in that trade at all unless it involves a 1st. EDM doesn't want to rid themselves of a 1st for Jordie Benn, so they'd have to be desperate as hell to shed salary to give up that 1st. Never know with Chiarelli, but I doubt that deal is even a remote possibilty. Is a 1st worth Benn and shedding 3.35M off next years cap?

Wait what? Montreal would be nuts not to take that. We are getting a 2nd for Benn + more movable assets.

Ryan Spooner (3-2-5pts in 41 games, -11) is a 3.1M$ cap hit for this season, and next... that's a "movable asset"?

Brandon Manning (2-2-4pts in 35 games, -28) is a 2.25M$ cap hit for this season, and next... also a "movable asset"?

That's 5.35M$ of dead weight. These guys could be in Laval next season, but would still cost 3+M$ against the cap if in the AHL. I think relieving EDM of that much cap space is worth more than a 2nd rd pick.

I guess you are right, neither of those contracts a likable and Benn is worth close to a 2nd right now anyways. Good point

I don't think Benn gets us a 2nd either... a 3rd if we're lucky... but I'd take it. Benn won't be here next season. Why not move on.

There was a Sportsnet article that said he was worth a 2nd in a normal market, but right now the market is a buyers market, so he is only worth a 3rd. Hudon would get us a 5th if we decided to trade him right now, or else he would be worth a 3rd in a stabilized market.
