See, I think Pittsburgh is looking for a 3C. I don’t think Brassard is working out. Brassard’s name was put on the market, so the inquiries are there. Faksa is exactly what you want as a 3C. Then again, I would consider Schenn for Brassard. From a STL point of view this might not work. They are a team on the cusp of the bubble, and trading a UFA for an underperforming UFA in hopes to add more offense might not be the best strategy.
What are you asking from these other teams?
I personally would rather see Faksa for Schenn than Faksa for Brassard. No knock on Brassard, but we would want Schenn to be our 2C next season, and I think we could afford him long term (4 years younger).
There is no great urgency in Pittsburgh to trade Brassard.
You are talking about a guy with 8 goals on the year with 41% of his starts in the Ozone end.
I do agree Faksa would be a nice fit in Pittsburgh. But I view them as equal or near equal players.
As far as what I would expect from other teams, that's a hard ask. Not many teams have a quality 3C available. Which means there would be no trade there.
I think CBJ looking at Wennberg + Milano I think would get attention. Mainly on hope of change of scene for development.
Idon't think Schenn is a fit for the penguins. He's not a defensive responsible player. He gets 62% of his starts in the Ozone.
He won't get that kind of time in Pittsburgh. I think people link him to the penguins hoping to drive price up whatever. Penguins wouldn't want him.
Furthermore, I think for all the time he gets in the Ozone his stats suck. 7 goals and 19 points sucks for 62% of your starts in the offensive zone at even strength.
That's not a 2C. That's a 3C who has to be hidden because he can't play defense. Which is why his even strength oiGA is a 37. Where Brass is a 22 with like 4 less games played or so.
