Description
Let the hungry older AHL players have some games, and let the young guys develop FFS. Leaning on experienced players to win games in Bakersfield, and playing young high draft picks in Edmonton is a$$ backwards.

That’s a pretty diabolical trade for Philly.

They have Hart, so wouldn’t need an expensive, underachieving backup in Talbot.

And taking on Lucic’s contract? No way.

And they give up probably the best piece iof this trade in the mammoth high level prospect Radcliffe?

Ugh.

Just don’t think any of those things are what Philly needs or is what theyre after.

Talbot’s a ufa after this season, and I figured Philly could sign him for cheap. With Hart the Flyers will need a back up that can play 30+ games. Lucic for 4 isn’t bad. I wouldn’t call Ratcliffe the best piece yet, he’s only played 2 games in the AHL, lots of players light it up in Junior

But why would the flyers want a UFA goalie, they have Elliot and neuvy and could get a veteran (and a better keeper) cheaper in UFA.

Its basically two salary dumps on a flyers team not going to the playoffs, for two players they don't need or want.

And out of those three, I'd rather have Radcliffe's what-if ability than those two contracts.

Yup - if Philly was playoff-bound I could see them adding a rental like Talbot as insurance, but they aren't. Even if they want to sign him as a UFA they just have to wait until July. No need to trade for him.

15-20 other teams need a goalie though too. For his age, experience, and after this season I think Talbot will be one of the best affordable options.

Yeah, but the goalie market is pretty saturated come July 1st. Those teams all have multiple options.

If a playoff-bound team experiences an injury to their starter prior to the TDL, the Oilers could get a decent return on Talbot. If not, they can still get a return for him - but only from a playoff team as insurance.
