*Conditions: Minnesota agreed to trade Vegas the better pick between Minnesota's own 2019 fifth round draft pick and Washington's 2019 fifth round pick (previously acquired by Minnesota)
Result: Vegas will receive Minnesota's 2019 5th round pick.
Not sure why so many people picked Minnesota to win this. Vegas gets a better pick in exchange for a 7th defensemen who was going to walk on July 1st.
You're right, Vegas did get value. But Minnesota got cheap depth who can play anywhere in the bottom four. In a sheltered role with Vegas, Hunt has been excellent. Plus, moving down between the fifth and sixth rounds is a statistically small difference.
Both teams got something, I just think Minnesota got more bang for their buck. Vegas was in a weak negotiating position.

I feel Minnesota could get the same quality of a defensemen on waivers. Vegas gained something where there was not really much value. It's a nothing trade regardless.
