Kelly McCrimmons First Week

Created by: TrueNorth
Team: 2018-19 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 23, 2019
Published: Jan. 23, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Oilers hire Kelly McCrimmon to be their new GM. McCrimmon immediately swings a deal to land Mark Stone. The lure of reuniting with his Wheat King mentor and playing on McDavid's wing is too great to resist and Stone commits long-term to Edmonton.

Another former Wheat King reportedly on the trade market is Brayden Schenn. Schenn played two seasons with Stone for the Wheat Kings. In a blockbuster deal, St. Loo acquires Draisaitl to give them a formidable 1-2 centre option with O'Reilly. Oilers boster their RHD with the addition of Parayko who immediately slots into the #1 pairing. Fabbri is having an off season but has shown flashes of brilliance in the past. Lining up with RNH and Puljujarvi on the second line might get both wingers going.

That bottom-6 looks bad tbh. Also Toronto doesnt pay 3rd round pick for bum. BUT on positive side, despite Blues not selling Parayko, they might do this deal. I dont see Sens doing that deal.

Isn't the worse thing the Oilers could do is trading away futures just to "hope" they can Stone long term? Save your assets and if cap is available sign a good UFA.
Let's not been much credence on where a player played as junior. Those days are gone and those teenagers have now grown into men with different priorities.

That's similar to lots of ACGM's trading Connor Brown to Edmonton because he played on the same line as McDavid in Jr. Though honestly I still love the Brown for Kassian swap. Edm gets a top 6 winger meanwhile Tor gets a feisty bottom 6 forward who could match well against the Bruins.

btw...why would St Lou want an LTIR guy in Sekera? They'll want Nurse or Bouchard instead.

Yep the Kassian for Brown makes 1000 times more sense then giving up a ton assets for an upcoming UFA. I just wonder why you think Brown is top 6 winger. Leafs playing the Bruins? Way the Leafs are playing lucky to get fourth place and play Tampa in the first round.

Placing Brown on Edmonton's roster and he's their best RWer (if you say Draisaitl is 2nd C ).

There will be no GM hired until June, so I think your whole premise is way off. EDM should be sellers at the deadline... McCrimmon can take a swing at Stone in the summer without losing Yamamoto or 2 high picks.
