I understand, but Granlund still young and can be part of that future... Beside, no Suzuki, Poehling, Brook or Romanov are included. These guys are our top prospects

1st Round Pick + 2nd Round pick + 35 Overall pick are all keys pieces IMO. all of them are considered core pieces. Just think, Poehling was 25th overall and Brook + Romanov were both 2nd round picks. That means we are trading 3 of those quality prospects away for Granlund.

Well, Brook and Romanov turned out to be top prospects... I bet they'd be top 20 picks if the draft was today... Fucale, De la Rose, Scherbak and McCarron were all top picks too...

habs reject? no minnesota laughs at the offer. He is on pace for 60-65 points is .80 points per game and he is 26 years old with 65+ points the last 2 seasons. It will cost a top prospect on top to start because with Minnesota probably rebuilding they can get those offers from multiple teams that are contending or championship level.

That's a fair deal for both sides, but Montreal is not trying to win now. If Minnesota is going to rebuild, they take any offer close to that and run. That is 3 quality prospects for him.

not really ,he's producing as much as he's paid to .
if he was locked in at like 3m cap sure the cap vs production makes him invaluable but right now MIN needs to recoop the depth they pissed away on failed playoff pushes as their team is Real Old .

if Granlund can get them a roster player ,another 1st in the deepest draft since 2003 (in which half a dozen teams built their core's for the next decade ), 2nd round pick and Gold Medal winner Jesse Ylonen taken last year 35th overall then they'd take it . Maybe it takes a Byron instead of Hudon to help fill in the Goal Scoring they'll lose with Granlund gone and Byron's signed at a good cap with term .

Montreal only does this because of the Upside of Granlund playing with Kotkanemi a fellow Finn and MG can help mentor Kotkanemi in the faceoff circle which will help move his development alone quite a ways .

I don't see this draft being deep, more of a 2012/2017 draft than a 2003. No top end talent (McDavid, Matthews, Laine, Eichel. etc), and lots of meh (banking on upside, more than current level of play) guys that would fall in the 15th oa range or later in an excellent draft year that will be taken top-10.

Having Granny mentor anyone at FO's is a bad idea if you any them to be any good at them.
