Keep Spezza and don't acquire Spooner. Dallas don't need Lovejoy and Spooner is an AHL player.

I don't really want either but Spooner can replace the speed lost in the Janmark trade. Spezza is useless and his monster contract is preventing Dallas from making any significant moves.

Spezza isn't that bad. I mean, sure, he is overpaid, big time, but since he has one year left his contract I think DAL is fine with him.

And if DAL needs cap space to acquire players, they could hypothetically put Hanzal in LTIR. And Johns as well, if his condition isn't getting better.

I think Janmark might be a better fit with Washington than Burakovsky, but Burakovsky at 23 and RFA has a lot more upside. Do you think Dallas would mind adding some kind of a pick to that?

Or is there a pick the Caps could add to get Faksa, instead? Washington's been weak on faceoffs this year.

That’s crazy to say Spezza is useless. That contract is **** but he is still likely our best 2nd line option and trading him is only gonna hurt the team. His wingers lately have been guys like Condra, Comeau, Pitlick, etc. Give him someone that can finish and he’ll easily get 50+ points. Plus Hanzal and Johns are likely done for the year. Methot might be as well. Throw them on LTIR.

Not a chance they could get Faksa without overpaying. They need all they can get at the forward position.

I agree Spezza still has some moves.

That's not a very specific asking price, on Faksa.

I think Burakovsky is a year younger with 40 more career points, but he had a weak start this year, so no one wants to trade for him. Faksa plays a more well-rounded game and takes faceoffs, which is why most of my offers on Faksa also include Nic Dowd, who's played center with some tough zone starts equal to Faksa's last year and this year. If Dallas needs more good forwards, then a two for one could give them a good top six guy and a good bottom six guy, while Washington has quantity, but could use a guy who can play a little bit of offense, and a little bit of checking center.

No need to start with Burakovsky if you don't value him, though. How about Dowd, Connolly (goal scoring wing who can also play on a checking line), and Lewington (RHD/enforcer prospect, with three points in two NHL games)?
