Chiasson for a 2nd is WAY too much, we don't really have a need for him anyways. Where he's succeeded this year is with McDavid on his line and on the 1st PP (go figure playing with him), but if we acquired he'd be back to playing 4th line winger who plays 10 minutes a night, mainly as a penalty killer. I don't think any team will give you a 2nd rounder for Chiasson, even with his scoring success this year, I'd say even a 3rd rounder might be stretching it.

COL trade is pretty good, WSH trade is a tad meh and BUF and NJ trades are pretty bad. RNH is a solid TOP6 player, Okposo is overpaid 3rd line winger, Smith is an AHL player and Beaulieu is a 7th D. There's really nothing too interesting for EDM, especially now that Chiarelli has been fired. And as of NJ trade, EDM should not acquire Schneider now that they've re-signed Koskinen long-term. As a DAL fan I know what kind of hell it can be when you spend +10M to a goalie tandem that doesn't work (Lehtonen+Niemi) - and with those two, it's certainly a possibility. Koskinen has played only 32 games in NHL so far and Schneider has been declining quite much for some time now...that goalie tandem could be a total disaster.

Id slot him in where Bura is. Chiasson has also had half his goals away from McDavid, he wasnt sloted there from the start of the season. Its playoff depth, better than wasting a first on Ryan Hartman

1. Sabres trade. Okposo would be, by far, Edmontons best RW. Playing with McDavid will break him out of his slump. He is still a talented finisher but has not been put in those situations this year. CJ Smith is not an AHLer, he should be on the Sabres main roster amd had a great 4 games, and Beaulieu was having a career year and should not be sitting and could easily be top 4 if he plays RD in EDM. Roster mismanagment in Buffalo is why they slumped in December. If Smith and Beaulieu arent going to get played, better give them to someone that will use them. Schnieder would be IR fodder for Edmonton, they take a little more money and term than Sekera but get an already well developed C back, their is no plan to use him.

500k savings on Schneider for three yrs (Sekera) and a full 4th at full 6. For a UFA who will probably sign elsewhere and a guy who won't play again so LTIR but against the cap.
Nah, Cory sucks but we can give him away for less than that

I think Sekara will play again, theres nothing leading me to believe he wont, just how effective he is is the gamble

OK, I can get there with you. But the Devs need 2-1.5 #1 dmen on each side. Taking on Sekera does nothing but tie us up. U hope he gets back but I also hope Shero says no to this.

Get rid of Talbot and Zacha and I think that's a good deal. The Devil's could then buyout Sekera. Sekera's buyout is $8mil/4yrs, whereas Schneids buyout is $12mil/6yrs.

I think Schneider could be moved for peanuts with retention less than a buyout #

Yeah then why would Edmonton do that then?

Thats pretty hopeful. What team is going to take on a 4 million dollar goalie who cant stay healthy and is a shell of what he used to be

I don't see Colorado trading Jost. Ever. Sorry.

But Puljujarvi would certainly get you Burakovsky, who is eleventh in the 2013 draft class in career points, tied for 7th in goals with Drouin, and used to play pretty well with McDavid, in juniors.

Puljujarvi is 13th and 8th in his draft class in points and goals, but the Caps would probably settle because he's waiver exempt, so they can call up Riley Barber.

Trade a 4th and a 6th to lock up 4 mill of your cap? Not to mention the NTC. I think its way harder than you think

Oh, I know it's hard. The NTC is the kicker.

If Schneider wants to continue playing at the highest level a deal gets done. Sure will he go to the worst team, no ... wait that's us!
The return blows, that's all

We could just buy him out for $2mil/yr for the next 6 years.
