Dallas declines. Their forward group takes a massive hit although their D gets better. Their worst position right now is on the offense

Carolina isn't going to retain anything for Ferland. Especially with Jarry and a 2nd as the return.

As a Kings fan, I'll be the first to admit that's an overpayment for Jake Muzzin. I'd take that deal in a second.

Carolina certainly will retain on Ferland if he gets traded and there needs to be salary retained. It doesn’t hurt Carolina at all if he’s retained

But why would they want to for that return.

The return isn't bad. A possible future starting goalie and a 2nd rounded. Probably could get more from other teams, but theres a good chance Ferland could be retained in a trade to any team

I could see that. Most likely gets traded to the West though.

Ya maybe. My guess is they’ll trade him to whoever gives the best offer

I'd sure hope so. Just can't see us trading him to the Pens, who are also competing for a wild card spot.

Toronto just gave up the same return.

Hallander and Addison are the Penguins two best prospects. Grundstrom is a solid prospect, but he's not a guaranteed top-six guy and isn't in their top 5 prospects. Durzi isn't even signed to a NHL contract.

This trade would be the equivalent of Toronto trading a 1st, Kapanen, and Liljegren.

Penguins version of what the Kings actually got would have been a 1st, Justin Almeida, and Ryan Jones.

that's actually a really good return for them considering Ferland is a rental, a 2nd plus Jarry is more than a lot of teams would consider giving up.
