Jake Muzzin has just left for Toronto, and the left-handed market has lost some feathers.
According to my colleague Maxime Truman, on the side of the Penguins, Olli Maatta would have attracted the attention of the Canadian ... and Marc Bergevin would be in serious discussion with Jim Rutherford about the left-handed defender. The 24-year-old Finnish back is paid $ 4.083 million until 2022.
The Finnish industry could grow unless the price to pay is a player like Artturi Lehkonen.
Its fragility could however be a concern

considering Rutherford just basically gave away Oleksiak for below market value earlier today I really don't foresee them trading Maatta now.

Not saying it's not true (obviously Bergevin is looking for LHD and Maata is on the block for PIT) but this source is a french Hocheybuzz. Pure BS.

Last time they said they were serious conversation for Max Domi & Alex Galchenyuk and they were right.

Mete’s way better than Maata. If he gets trade to Montreal, he will play with Petry. Mete-Weber Maata-Petry Kulak-Benn

Made my research.

Friedman of Sportsnet was talking about that deal for weeks already.

But hey! They did get the scoop ! June 15th @18:22
https://twitter.com/DLCoulisses/status/1007795437926060032?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1007795437926060032&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fs9e.github.io%2Fiframe%2F2%2Ftwitter.min.html%231007795437926060032

When the team announced it 15 minutes later !!!
https://twitter.com/canadiensmtl/status/1007799370232877056

So basically, they knew someone in the Habs PR team LOL.

Like I said, it is obvious MTL is looking for a LHD with term, and Muzzin of the market, Maata is the next logical choice. I'm just saying they use logic, not actual high position sources in teams management.

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST! wink
