because Nylander is a 1 dimensional player. and Marner/Kapanen/Brown all can PK..... don't need a $6.9M #3RW - but on MINN he will be a #1 RW

No thanks from MN. We can't afford to trade Dumba, even though Nylander is the perfect player for us. Dumba is likely a future Norris winner, I can't see Nylander winning any awards even though I think he's a great player.

No, what I'm saying is that we cannot afford to give up Dumba unless it's a massive overpayment. There's no framework that works for us since the future of our blue line at RD outside of Dumba is pretty bleak. I doubt we re-sing Spurgeon when his deal is up, and our prospects (Belpedio, F. Johansson, and S. Johansson) don't project to be anything more than 2nd pairing guys at best. We basically have no clear stud defenseman prospects now that Dumba has turned into the player he is. So because of that, we can't afford to trade Dumba.

Matthews on a 5 year deal and Marner for one. The term is what is important here, not the AAV. Most ppl see this and assume 8 years.

Kappy on a 2 year deal gets ~2.75
Matthews on a 5 year deal (6 is more likely but op used 5)gets closer to 9,
Marner won't be over 9 on an 8 year deal
Etc
