Helm is only one year older and can skate fast, Lucic can't. Even with half retention on Lucic, subtracting Manning and adding a B-grade prospect like Ethan Bear I just don't see why Detroit would have any interest in making this deal.

They are but taking on Lucic is gonna cost Edmonton way more then a B-grade prospect.

At half off. He isn't that bad of a player for a 3M contract. Maybe he is better suited for Ottawa given the actual dollars amount for with 50% retained would be more appealing

Nah, they're really different actually. I doubt Lehtera stays in the NHL after this season, he's been really bad the two years I saw him play for Philly.

Raffl on the other hand has a history of being a very good play-driver able to chip in some points and a guy who can be inserted in the middle-6 if needed. He's ideally a fourth liner, though. It's true that he's struggling with putting up points this season. I'm guessing his contract is going to look something like 2 x 1,500,000$.
