Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is what I read it would cost... (Bob Mckenzie).

I do not love this. It's ok if he re-signs, but I don't see that happening in Boston because he is going to be looking for a huge payday. They could make it work by moving guys, but...

If they were do to this, they would have to have a lot of trust in Zboril and Lauzon.

Or I would have to think Krug and Krejci would be moved for a (youngish) top 4 LD - not in the the same deal. something like Krug and Bjork/Donato/Heinen for say Brodin.

I don’t think they are even considering Panarin.

It confuses me, but there is a decent amount of smoke out there. I guess it makes sense if they think they are running out of time with this core. Even if Studnicka and Frederic are 1c and 2c possibilities, it will take a couple years for them to get to that level. They almost have to move two if not all three of Krejci/Krug/Backes in the offseason or deadline. Chara is still very good at what he does, but is clearly on the back 9.

Good news is I think this package is very high. As Panarin's has made it know he is going to FA. Prices are high now, but unless someone makes a desperate move they should come down. Pitt scares me in this...maybe the Isles too.

Cost is going to be high no matter what for a guy that is just going to walk. Move on. Trading for him would be just another mistake in a long line of them they have made.

**** all that for a possible rental. That would be a huge blow to the Bruins' system.

I am not sure I 100% agree. Vaakanainan would hurt, but they do have a ton of LD prospects, and I would have to think they could move Krug for another or a pick. Chara will likely be back next year.

JFK might be odd man out with Studnicka and Frederic coming. Bergeron has a few more great years in him, so theoretically - you have your 1,2,3 for next 4 or so years. The order should change over time.
I know he can play wing, but then you have the bottleneck there. (Debrusk, Cehlarik, Donato, Bjork, Lauko, Heinen, Senyshyn).

Krejci & krug could be used to restock lost assets.

Panarin is real good. On Hockey ref you don't often see similarity scores that include names like: Forsberg, Robitaille, Lemieux, Bossy, Crosby Peter Statsny and Carson. He is a guy that could put them over.
