The Leafs trade is very interesting. I think the Leafs would consider it. They likely don't want to change the D to much the rest of this year but if they can get tougher on D and unload Zaitsev's contract for only a 3rd round pick, I think they do it.

I don't think the Flames do that trade just because they are the best team in the West and don't want to change up the lineup that much.

Thanks, just thinking it ups the flames toughness factor, and ghost for hanifan is IMO pretty even, whereas Simmonds has a bigger physical and scoring impact than Bennett (who is an RFA).

The Leafs trade is very interesting. Gudas carries a lower cap for one more year so Toronto still has to deal with that. Zaitsev then would have 4 years still with the Flyers. For a $4.5 million dollar cap they need Zaitsev to be solid #4 or a strong #5, which I believe he can be. A strong #5 that eats up 20 minutes a game allowing the top pairs to rest a bit more is huge.

I don't think Calgary moves Hanifin in a deal to be exchanged with Gostisbehere. The Calgary deal is plausible to be centered around Simmonds and Bennett though.

Hanifan and Ghost is even but Philly adds a solid mid-level prospect like Strome (who in all honesty has all the tools, but his "wheels" are weak), so I see it as Simmonds and a 3rd for Bennett. Simmonds is a power forward who is pretty close to guaranteed to bring physicality and 20-25 goals a year), but hes a UFA. Bennett is an good, still young 2 way RFA who after 3 yrs of 25-35 pts probably doesn;t command a huge raise on his 1.85mil but he will. So added a 3rd from Philly.

Calgary is playing so well, but the toughness, crease control factor from Simmonds could mean a whole lot in the playoffs.

Haven't even looked at the team, it physically hurts me that the proper abbreviation of CGY wasn't used though. lol.

Gudas has more value than that and I want nothing to do with that Zaitsev contract. He stinks. Also highly doubt Calgary would do that.
