Send down Brad Malone that is $650,000 off of the cap.

Take away the $2,500,000 for Katz.

The team is at 23 players and under the cap by $500,000 approximately.

Top line Kassian? Second line Lucic? Why not.

Honestly, that's what Chia had in mind acquiring them. Might as well see if they can make it work, just one more time.

Katz’s penalty does not actually count as a player, lol. If they send down Malone the team is at 22 players and without an extra forward. Cave and Gravel would need to be put on waivers to be sent down. This is the problem when Sekera comes off LTIR

They could send Puljujärvi down and bring up Currie, but then how do they learn lmao

The only center that Lucic has played well with is Drai, but he’s been with McDavid. Puljujärvi’s had the most success with Nuge, but isn’t ready to be on the second line. Kassian and Reider can skate and are good defensively. They’ll be able to get up the ice to get the tap ins and be backboards, but also help out on defence against the other teams top line.

Man that's an ugly roster... Lol
Seriously what a mess they've made of that team.
Does Talbot have a NMC of some sort? If not they should see if Vegas would want him, they obviously don't trust their backups and are overworking Fleury and could use someone who could take some of the share of games. Vegas has tons of cap space and lots of 2nd and 3rd round picks to offer up for Talbot, trading him would get the Oilers plenty of cap space.

Talbot can be traded to 10 teams of his choosing. I haven’t seen his list anywhere. The problem is getting anything of value for him. Vegas is still in a fight for the playoffs with the Oilers, they probably aren’t looking to help each other out. Edmonton doesn’t exactly have a good to go back up in the AHL either. Starrett’s the best option, but is only in his second year of pro hockey.

Vegas is 9 games above .500 and the Oilers are a game below so it seems like the Knights are pretty much a lock for at least a playoff spot at this point.
Can't see the 'not wanting wanting to help each other out' factoring in too much at this point but maybe.
Probably extracting a 4th rounder out of Talbot, a 3rd at best but like I said Vegas has lots of 2nds + 3rds so maybe could snag a late 2nd out of them. If the Oilers did trade Talbot they could probably grab an experienced but struggling backup like Calvin Pickard or Chad Johnson for a 7th round pick, I realize not ideal but not a big cost and might be better then throwing a rookie to the wolves. Lol
Couldn't they call up Montoya?

Ya, Vegas is probably a lock. Unless like we’re talking about, Fleury goes down.
Montoya hasn’t played much, or well when he did.
You’re right about helping Vegas too. They have a lot of Pacific match ups coming. Helping them could help the Oilers. Smart, ?

Watched the Oilers lose to Philly yesterday, gotta
think Talbot would welcome getting the hell out of there.. Lol
Oilers really need one top 6 winger, obviously they need more then just that but right now just one more good winger would make a big difference in Edmonton. If the Oilers braintrust can pull that off without sacrificing too much of the existing key pieces
they might be able to scrape into the playoffs.
