Not enough for Trouba and Vesalainen, Fat chance of Trouba signing long term with Edmonton. This would be a NHL draft day deal not TDL deal any ways.

I agree if you only look at it from an on-ice perspective, it may seem on-sided. However, from a holistic side this deal makes sense for both teams. (BTW I'm not a Jets or Oilers fan per se).

Winnipeg gets a legit second line center who's only 25 for reasonable cap space to make a run for a few years. They spent a 1st last year on a rental center last year. They also get Puljujarvi who has played well with Laine in the past. Also, Trouba has already said he wants out of Winnipeg. Finally, they have an opportunity to sign Meyers if they want.

Edmonton gets first pair RHD. They can trade Bouchard for forward help.

Counter offer,

IF Trouble resigns in Edm (haha), Trouba + Apples (or dare I say Roslo, his speed would be fantastic with McJesus) for RNH + Bouchard with sweetners on either side to balance. Edm has their T4 D in Klef/Trouba/Nurse/Larsson and a young ELC forward. Peg gets their 2nd line C and a RHD that makes up for losing Trouba that is still a year or two from taking a roster spot. Each team gets instantly better I think

a top prospect and a top 4 D man, for at best a 2c and a bust...easy pass for WPG.

Bust and top prospect? Well they are 1 year apart in age. Vesa hasn't played a full year in North America so I would pause on declaring a winner there.

Winnipeg is unlikely to resign Trouba. First, he has suggested that he wanted to leave and they may not be able to afford him. Winnipeg's biggest need is a solid 2nd line center. RNH is only 25 and is under contract for a few more years.

Winnipeg could overpay for a rental like Duchene, but we say how that went last year with Statsny.
